On August 22 at 11:29 PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 12300 block of Oakwood Dr. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a domestic. The investigation revealed earlier in the day, the victim, a 42-year-old woman, and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused threw the victim into the couch before grabbing and pinning her against a wall. The victim was able to separate from the accused and go onto the balcony of the residence where she began to yell for help. The accused then grabbed the victim and prevented her from leaving the residence. Eventually, the accused left the room, and the victim was able to leave the residence and contacted the police later that evening. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Richard William BARBEE. On August 24, the accused turned himself in to police without incident.
