On March 4 at 8:17PM, officers responded to Macy’s inside the Manassas Mall located at 8270 Sudley Rd. in Manassas (20109) to investigate a robbery. The investigation revealed that an unknown man, later identified as the accused, entered the store, and began concealing merchandise on his person. When confronted by store security, the accused brandished a knife and threatened the employee before fleeing on foot. A police K-9 searched the area for the accused who was initially not located. Beauty products were reported missing. Later that evening, officers were flagged down by a resident of a home in the 8100 block of Community Dr. to report a residential burglary. The investigation into the burglary revealed that the suspect kicked in the rear door to make entry into the home. During the investigation, officers determined the burglary suspect’s description matched that of the accused. While investigating, the accused returned to the area where he was taken into custody without incident. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Gerardo CARRASCO MARTINEZ, was arrested.
