On April 30 at 8:35PM, officers observed the driver of a vehicle fail to maintain his lane of travel in the area of Jefferson Davis Hwy and Wayside Dr. in Dumfries (22026) and attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as the accused, disregarded the officer’s emergency equipment and continued driving. A short distance later, the accused failed to navigate the turn onto Dumfries Rd. and struck vehicles stopped at the intersection causing the accused’s vehicle to become disabled. When the officer attempted to take the accused into custody, the accused actively resisted and refused to follow officers’ commands. After a brief struggle, the accused was taken into custody without further incident. During the altercation, the accused struck an officer who was treated at the scene for minor injuries. The accused was treated at the scene for minor injuries sustained during the altercation. While investigating, officers located suspected illegal narcotics in the accused’s possession. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Kendall Raymone RIVERS, was arrested.
