Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – Potomac Inn at 13964 Jefferson Davis Hwy. in Woodbridge VA

On June 7 at 9:37AM, detectives with the Missing Persons Unit responded to the Potomac Inn located at 13964 Jefferson Davis Hwy. in Woodbridge (22191) to locate a juvenile who had been reported missing with an active detention order on file for assault & battery. The juvenile, identified as the accused, was located with family members inside a room at the hotel. Additional officers arrived at the location and attempted to take the accused into custody. While being detained, the accused actively resisted and refused to follow officers’ commands. A brief struggle ensued where the accused struck and pushed officers before fleeing on foot into a nearby wooded area. After a short foot chase, the accused was taken into custody without further incident. One officer sustained a head injury after striking a brick wall when the accused resisted arrest. The officer was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as a precaution. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as a 17-year-old juvenile male, was arrested.
