On October 17 at 3:15 AM, officers were in the area of the Potomac Inn located at 13964 Richmond Hwy. in Woodbridge (22191) when they observed a man outside of the hotel who had active arrest warrants. As officers attempted to make contact with the man, identified as the accused, he attempted to flee on foot. Officers were quickly able to detain the accused who began to actively resist and refused to follow the officer’s commands. During a struggle, the accused assaulted three of the officers. No injuries were reported. After a brief struggle, the accused was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Darryck Dawayne Edward SMITH, was arrested.
