On July 11 at 9:29AM, officers responded to the Walmart located at 9401 Liberia Ave. in Manassas (20110) to investigate a shoplifter. Prior to officers arriving at the store, store security personnel detained a man, later identified as the accused, who was observed putting items into a backpack before walking towards the exit where he encountered security personnel. While investigating the incident, the accused initially provided false identifying information to security personnel and officers. When officers attempted to take the accused into custody, he actively resisted and pushed himself into an officer causing the officer to fall before fleeing the store. The officer reported minor injuries. Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Stanton Theodore JONES. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful.
