Assault Investigation | Possible Attempted Abduction – 10400 block of Butterfield St in Manassas VA

On March 5 at 9:05PM, officers responded to the Assembly Manassas Apartments located in the 10400 block of Butterfield St in Manassas (20109) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 20-year-old woman, reported to police that she was walking to her apartment when she was approached from behind by an unknown man. The man grabbed the victim who screamed causing the man to let go and flee on foot. The victim stated she originally observed the man in the parking lot pull up in a tan-colored sedan. The man initially exited his vehicle first and walked towards the complex. The victim then exited her vehicle and began walking toward her building. Once inside her building, the man proceeded to an upper floor before observing the victim and confronting her as she was attempting to enter her apartment. The man grabbed the victim from behind in a “bear-hug” before the victim screamed. The suspect then released the victim and fled the building. A police K-9 searched the area for the suspect who was not located. No injuries were reported, and no property was taken. Detectives are asking anyone who may have information regarding this incident to contact the police. The investigation continues.

Suspect Description: Male, medium complexion, unknown age, 5’9”, 185lbs, with a medium build and wearing glasses with gold-colored frames Last seen wearing a gray zip-up hooded sweatshirt, black balaclava-style mask, black & gray sweatpants, and black sneakers
