On May 15 at 1:23 PM, officers responded to the 1900 block of Opitz Blvd. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a person running into the roadway. Upon arriving in the area, officers observed a woman, later identified as the accused, being held in place by a witness. While investigating the incident, the accused continued her efforts to flee. As officers were attempting to detain the accused to keep her from hurting herself, she grabbed an officer’s weapon and attempted to remove it from the holster. After a brief struggle, the accused was secured without further incident. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Madeline Elizabeth SMITH, was arrested.
