On July 25 at 7:16 PM, officers responded to the Days Inn located at 16925 Old Stage Rd in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a domestic. The investigation revealed the victim, a 16-year-old female juvenile, and a family member, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused retrieved a small axe from her purse and swung it, striking an interior wall in one of the rooms. The victim contacted police and the parties separated. Officers located the accused a short distance away from the hotel where she was detained without incident. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Shemia Raneek ROYALS, was arrested.
