On July 8 at 1:40 PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 3100 block of Tulip Tree Pl. in Dumfries (22026) to serve an active detention order on a juvenile. Upon making contact with the occupants of the home, officers located multiple juveniles inside the residence who was uncooperative with the investigation. Before officers were able to identify the juveniles, two ran from home. A short time later, officers were informed one of the juveniles who ran from the home may have been the wanted juvenile. While checking the area, officers located the two juveniles on Stagecoach Rd. and attempted to detain them. The juveniles refused to follow the officer’s commands and entered the property of a nearby business without permission. Officers located the juveniles on the property where they were detained without incident. One of the juveniles, identified as the accused, was placed inside of a marked police vehicle while his guardians were being contacted. While inside the vehicle, the accused began kicking the interior of the vehicle, damaging the door. When officers attempted to secure the accused, he continued to resist and refused to follow the officer’s commands. During the encounter, the accused struck the officer multiple times before being secured and placed back inside the police vehicle. The accused again began to kick and cause damage to the vehicle. As officers removed the accused to be re-secured, he attempted to bite an officer. Officers re-secured the accused and transported him to the Juvenile Detention Center where he then spat on multiple officers before being escorted into the facility. Minor injuries were reported by officers. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as a 16-year-old male juvenile, was arrested. The juvenile with the active detention order, identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile, was later located at the residence and taken into custody before being transported to the Juvenile Detention Center without incident.
