On July 20 at 4:45 AM, officers responded to the Melrose Apartments located in the 3500 block of Macon Way in Triangle (22172) to investigate a domestic with weapons. While responding, officers were informed one of the involved parties, later determined to be the accused, fled the home. Upon arriving in the area, officers located the victim, a 25-year-old man, inside the residence suffering from minor injuries. The investigation revealed the victim was in a room when a family member, identified as the accused, entered, and then began striking him. During the encounter, the accused picked up a hammer and attempted to strike the victim. A brief struggle over the hammer ensued before the victim was able to get the hammer away from the accused. The accused then grabbed the victim’s neck before the parties separated. The accused fled the apartment. Responding officers located the accused nearby and took him into custody without incident. The victim reported minor injuries. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Nicholas Andrew HYLTON, was arrested.
