Investigators with the Crash Investigation Unit have charged the driver of the 2009 Mercedes E350 in connection to the fatal crash that occurred in the area of (22192) on April 13. The investigation revealed the driver was traveling more than the posted speed limit when he disregarded a red traffic signal at the intersection and struck a 2016 Toyota Highlander. The resulting collision killed the driver of the Toyota, identified as a 77-yearold Woodbridge man, and injured a 64-year-old female occupant in the vehicle. Another driver, a 72-year-old woman, was also injured when the force from the collision pushed one of the involved vehicles into her vehicle, a 2000 Honda Accord. Following the investigation, the at-fault driver, identified as Andrew William IRWIN, was charged. The accused remains hospitalized and will be served upon release.
