On February 24 at 6:19PM, investigators with the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of River Ridge Road and Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country was traveling westbound on River Ridge Road approaching Jefferson Davis Highway when the vehicle struck a pedestrian who stepped into the lane of travel, outside of a crosswalk. The driver remained on scene of the crash. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries. On March 11, crash investigators were notified that the pedestrian died as a result of the injuries sustained during the crash. Speed, alcohol, and drugs were not factors in the crash. Identified: The deceased pedestrian was identified as Arthur Raymond LABUNDE, 65, of Washington, D.C. The driver of the 2016 Chrysler Town and Country was identified as a 32-year-old man of Washington, D.C.
