On July 17 at 12:42 AM, officers responded to the intersection of Balls Ford Rd. and Sudley Rd. in Manassas (20109) to investigate a two-vehicle crash. Upon arriving at the intersection, officers observed an unoccupied 2013 Infiniti JX35 with significant damage. The driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash, a 2018 Mercedes GLA250, was present at the scene. Officers quickly located the driver of the Infiniti, later identified as the accused, and another occupant of the vehicle, a 2-year-old girl, at a business nearby. The investigation revealed the accused was driving north on Sudley Rd., approaching Balls Ford Rd., when he disregarded the red traffic signal and continued into the intersection where he struck the Mercedes. The accused then took the child out of the vehicle and fled to the business where they were later located by police. Officers determined the accused was intoxicated and took him into custody without incident. Rescue personnel responded and determined the child was unharmed. The child was turned over to a family member. No additional injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Ricardo AYALA CRESPIN, was arrested. While being processed at the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center, the accused was found in possession of suspected illegal narcotics.
