On July 5 at 9:55PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 15100 block of Alaska Rd. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary. Upon arriving in the area, officers were approached by three men who were standing outside of the residence. Officers determined one of the men, identified as the accused, destroyed property inside the home. When officers attempted to detain the accused, he refused to follow officer’s commands and struck an officer with his head. During the altercation, the accused attempted to remove one of the officer’s firearms from their holster before he then bit and struck the officer. The accused continued to actively resist and, at one point, one of the other men intervened which prevented the officer from taking the accused into custody. After a brief struggle, both the accused and the other man were taken into custody. Rescue personnel transported the accused to an area hospital for treatment and further evaluation. The investigation revealed the accused was in a verbal altercation with the two other men when he began to damage several pieces of property within the home. During the encounter, the accused struck one of the men, who was identified as a family member. The parties separated and went outside of the home where they encountered police. The officer and the family member reported minor injuries. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Selven CORRALES ALVARADO and the man, identified as Walter CORRALES ALVARADO, were arrested.
