On June 6, 2021, detectives with the Special Victim’s Bureau began an investigation into a sexual assault that was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the Manassas (20109) area of Prince William County sometime between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2020. The investigation revealed, the victim, who was between 11-12 years of age at the time of the offense, was visiting the residence when she was sexually assaulted by a family member, identified as the accused. The victim reported the incident to a family member who contacted the police. Following the investigation, detectives obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Cruz MONTALVO SANCHEZ. Initial attempts to locate the accused were unsuccessful. On September 27, 2022, the accused was located and taken into custody by Fairfax County police.
