On May 11 at 8:49 PM, officers responded to the Coverstone IV Apartments located in the 7600 block of Cass Pl. in Manassas (20109) to investigate a shooting. Residents reported to police that gunshots were heard in the parking lot of the above area. The investigation revealed that a group of individuals was involved in a verbal altercation in the parking lot with the occupants of a dark-colored SUV. At one point during the encounter, gunfire was exchanged before both groups fled the area. While checking the area, officers located an unoccupied vehicle and two separate apartments that sustained damage consistent with being struck by projectiles. Shell casings were also located in the parking lot near the damaged vehicle. A police K-9 searched the area for anyone involved in the incident. No one was located and no injuries or additional property damage were reported.
