On June 22 at 12:04 AM, officers responded to the Potomac Ridge Apartments located in the 2800 block of Woodmark Dr. in Dumfries (22191) to investigate a shooting. The investigation revealed a 33-year-old man was parked in front of the above area when two unknown men approached his vehicle on foot as a silver Honda Civic and black Jeep Cherokee pulled up. During the encounter, a verbal altercation escalated when one of the men brandished a firearm from his waistband. The victim quickly fled the area as several shots were fired, one of which struck the victim’s vehicle. The victim drove to a nearby business and contacted the police. While responding to the incident, officers were informed of an additional shooting call in the above area where a residence was struck. Officers determined both calls were from the same shooting incident. Shell casings were recovered in the roadway of Sherwood Dr. near Powells Creek Blvd. No injuries or additional property damage were reported.
