On May 26, the suspect sought in connection to the shooting that occurred in the 15300 block of Gatehouse Ter. in Woodbridge (22191) was arrested. The investigation revealed that a group of males, possibly juveniles, were walking in the area when one of them fired multiple rounds. The rounds, intended for a vehicle driving by, struck the unintended victim, a 9-year-old girl, who was playing with her friends on the opposite side of the street. The girl remains in critical condition. Detectives received an outpouring of community support and worked extensively to identify the suspect believed to have fired the shots that struck the victim, the sedan, and a nearby home. Moreover, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives provided assistance during the investigation and offered a reward in this case. Following the investigation, the suspect, identified as a 15-year-old male juvenile, who was located in the Woodbridge area and taken into custody without incident.
