On May 7 at 3:23 AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 15300 block of Watermill Ter. In Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shooting. Upon arriving at the residence, officers located the victim, a 50- year-old woman, outside of the home, suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers utilized their department-issued trauma kits to treat the victim until rescues personnel arrived. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she is expected to survive. The investigation revealed that the victim and a family member, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused brandished a firearm towards the victim who then fled outside the home where the accused followed. While outside of the residence, the accused fired multiple rounds, striking the victim. The accused remained at the residence and was taken into custody without incident. No additional injuries or property damage were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Abebe BRUKE, was arrested.
