Shooting Investigation | Robbery *ARREST – 17100 block of Richmond Hw

On October 19, 2022, members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force located and arrested the suspect sought in connection to the shooting that occurred on May 7, 2021, and a separate robbery that was reported to have occurred in the parking lot of a local business located in the 17100 block of Richmond Hwy. on July 10, 2022. The accused, Shanti Negus FELTON, was located and taken into custody in Bay Shore, NY where he will remain until extradited to Virginia.

Shooting Investigation *ADDITIONAL INCIDENTS [Previously Released] – On October 5, 2022 at 7:01PM, officers conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Belleplain Ct. and Allen Dent Rd. in Dumfries (22026) where they identified one of the occupants of the vehicle as Shanti Negus FELTON, who had active warrants for his arrest. During the encounter, FELTON exited the vehicle and refused to follow officers’ commands before fleeing on foot. A police K-9 and helicopter assistance from Fairfax County police searched the area for the accused who was not located. While investigating the incident, officers determined FELTON, was wanted in connection to a previously reported shooting that occurred on May 7, 2021, and a separate robbery that was reported to have occurred in the parking lot of a local business located in the 17100 block of Richmond Hwy. on July 10, 2022. The investigation into the robbery revealed the 19-year-old male victim was approached by two unknown men who struck the victim before taking his property. During the investigation, one of the suspects was identified as Shanti Negus FELTON and warrants for his arrest were obtained on September 5, 2022. The investigation remains active as officers attempt to identify and locate the second suspect. A 19-year-old man was previously arrested on May 18, 2021, in connection with the shooting investigation.
