On May 24 at 12:14 AM, officers responded to the area of Nokesville Rd. and Fitzwater Dr. in Nokesville (20181) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 41-year-old man, reported to police that earlier that day he met the accused and made arrangements to help him move property. After the transaction was complete, the victim was driving the vehicle in the above area when a verbal altercation with the accused escalated. During the encounter, the accused began to strike the victim before taking the victim’s money. At that point, the victim pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road where the accused forced the victim out of the vehicle. The accused then drove off in the vehicle and the victim contacted the police. The victim reported minor injuries. Officers located the accused at his home where he was detained. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Dennis William MERCHANT, was arrested.
