On April 20 at 2:24AM, officers responded to investigate an assault that was reported to have occurred at a home located in the 3200 block of Gina Pl in Woodbridge (22193) the day prior on April 19 at approximately 11:00PM. The investigation revealed the victim, a 20-year-old woman, and a family member, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused retrieved a cell phone and threw it at the victim, striking her in the face. The victim sustained a laceration to her face and went to an area hospital for treatment where police were contacted. The victim’s injury was determined to be non-life threatening. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Brittany Alexis OWENS, was arrested.
